Xmath is an engineering math/graphics package. With Xmath, scientistsand engineers can develop numerical algorithms and solve problemsinteractively with the high-level mathScript language, rather thanthrough the time-consuming code-compile-link-debug process of FORTRAN orC. Xmath is the first such package to be designed specifically forworkstations. It makes use of powerful workstation graphics and userinterface capabilities supplied by the X Window System's windowingsoftware and the Motif user interface toolkit.Xmath contains hundreds of built-in functions for mathematical analysis.Xmath graphics have the capability to plot in 2-D and 3-D, with featuressuch as text annotation, surface shading, and multiple plots -- allaccessed through a point-and-click, mouse-driven interface. In additionto its computational environment, users can access all of Xmath'snumerical functions and graphics to develop their own functions. This isdone through the mathScript environment for reusable algorithmdevelopment, which complements the "try it out" nature of the interactivetool.
